Tents & Beds
How big is the tent for a Solo Trekker?
A Solo Trekker is normally provided with an RV1 Oztent. This has a sleeping compartment that is big enough not just for the bed, but also has enough space for a safari chair to stretch out in. For more information with regard to dimensions, you should take a look at the 'Solo Tent' page on the website.
Can 3 Persons share a tent?
Yes, our largest Oztent is the RV5 and it is capable of taking three campbeds in the interior sleeping compartment. When the RV5 is used for triple occupancy, we add two Side Panels onto the exterior awning, to provide extra privacy - in consideration for there being less space for manoeuvre with the three beds.
There are two options if you would like even more privacy. You can either have two tents (1 x Double and 1 x Solo - for which there is a solo supplement of £10 per night), or you can have an additional Front Panel put on your RV5 Oztent (for a £5 per night supplement - ie £25 for the five nights), which effectively creates two enclosed living spaces, as opposed to just the one.
What bedding do I need to bring?
We provide you with a bed - that is a safari-style canvas folding frame bed that stands about 1ft off the floor. We also provide you with a full-length foam insulation mat on top of the bed. We don't provide bedding or a pillow. You bring your own sleeping bag, which we recommend should be a '3 Season' bag and if you would like a pillow, the suggestion is to bring a small camping one that squeezes neatly into a small bag.
What if it gets a bit chilly at night and my own sleeping bag isn't warm enough?
We have 2 choices to help you out. You can hire a 'Fleece Bag Liner' for £5, or a '3 Season Sleeping Bag with Cotton Liner' for £10. In both cases, this applies to the camping duration of the Trek.
