The tents we use are Oztents, imported from Australia, having been designed for the rigours of the outback. They are not the usual flimsy lightweight gaudy-coloured structures you generally see on campsites, but are framed tents made with a light brown heavier canvas, that blend in sympathetically with the countryside.
In effect, there are two parts to an Oztent - an internal sleeping compartment, with an exterior awning-covered sitting area. We now have five sizes of Oztent.
The RV1, although big enough for two, it's ideal for solo occupancy, with its spacious internal area - room enough for a bed and safari chair that you can comfortably stretch out in.
At the other end of the spectrum, we have the RV5, which is the largest version of the Oztent and is provided either as a Family Tent, or for use by three adults. It has an internal compartment big enough to stand up in, as well as take three of our camp beds, with walking space between the beds.
However, where Oztents really differ from other tents, is in their flexibility to be converted to provide extra enclosed communal or sleeping space. It can, with the addition of side panels, have a sheltered external sitting (and cooking) area added. Beyond that, with the addition of a further front panel, it can have a completely enclosed extra compartment, which can be used for more sleeping space, or just a room with a roof high enough to stand in, as well as providing a communal sitting area.
